CASTLE ROCK, Colo. -- The Castle Rock City Council voted to lift the town's ban on pit bulls on Tuesday night.
The vote was 5-0 to abolish the 25-year-old ban on the breed.
The move will be replaced with a behavior-based system that bans aggressive dogs regardless of breed.
Pit bulls are banned in Denver, Aurora, Lone Tree, Commerce City, Louisville, Fort Lupton and La Junta.
Castle Rock officials said updates will be sent Wednesday about the next step in the process.
