DENVER -- Agents with the FBI and police officers conducted numerous drug raids across the Denver metro area on Thursday morning.

Police in several jurisdictions participated in the roundup of members of the East Side Crips by the Metro Gang Task Force, which works in conjunction with the FBI.

A federal grand jury indicted 52 suspects for trafficking powdered cocaine and crack cocaine in the Denver metro area.

Investigators said 35 people have been arrested and they are still looking for 17 fugitives. Twelve of the suspects are women.

Investigators said the gang members dealt drugs in public areas where children and families gather -- including Curtis Park, Sonny Lawson Park, Dr. Daniel Hale Williams Park, the Red Brick Apartments at 26th and Welton streets, and the RTD station at 26th and Welton.

During the investigation, law enforcement seized 1,100 grams of cocaine, 690 grams of crack cocaine, five firearms and two vehicles.

The investigation began in August 2015.
