Family, dog escape Evergreen house fire thanks to smoke alarms

EVERGREEN, Colo. — A family and a dog safely escaped a house fire late Sunday night, Evergreen Fire Rescue said.

The fire broke out about 11 p.m. in the 30300 block of Lone Spruce Road. Working smoke alarms woke up the family and they were able to get out. It’s not known how many people were inside the home.

There was extensive damage to the home. No injuries were reported.

Crews from Foothills, Genesee and Indian Hills fire districts helped put out the fire. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson County Road and Bridge also responded.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
