CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — A Lowe’s store in Castle Rock will host a fundraiser Saturday to benefit the family of fallen Colorado State Patrol trooper Cody Donahue.

Coffee, hot chocolate and doughnuts will be offered to those contributing to the cause. All money raised will go to Donahue’s family.

The fundraiser will take place from 7 a.m. to noon at 1360 New Beale St.

Donahue was hit and killed by a commercial truck driver in November on Interstate 25 just south of Castle Rock.

The driver, 41-year-old Noe Gamez-Ruiz, has been charged with careless driving resulting in death and failure to yield the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle.

Donahue was an 11-year-veteran of the Colorado State Patrol.
