Man arrested after shooting in Commerce City home

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- A man was arrested after a shooting inside a home early Friday morning, the Commerce City Police Department said.

Officers responded to the 10200 block of Telluride Court about 1:30 a.m. As police arrived, several gunshots were heard and a man, later identified as 32-year-old Philip Friesen, was seen leaving the scene in a vehicle.

Officers were able to find Friesen and arrest him about two blocks from the home.

Police said Friesen assaulted an unidentified 41-year-old woman and fired several shots inside the home before fleeing. A 3-year-old also inside the home.

No one inside the home was injured because of the shots fired. The woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for unknown injuries because of the assault.

Friesen was booked into the Adams County Detention Facility on charges of domestic violence, felony menacing, child abuse, reckless endangerment, third-degree assault and DUI.

Police did not say what Friesen's relationship was to the woman and the child.
