CU moves up to No. 8 in College Football Playoff rankings

BOULDER, Colo. -- The University of Colorado football team moved up in the latest College Football Playoff rankings that were released Tuesday night.

After beating Utah on Saturday to improve to 10-2, the Buffaloes moved up to one spot to No. 8.

CU will take on Washington in the Pac-12 championship game on Friday night at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The game will air on FOX31.

The Huskies are 11-1 and are No. 4 in the rankings. The top four teams in next week's rankings will meet in the College Football Playoff. CU has an outside chance to move to into the top four.

Alabama continues to dominate and has been on top each of the past five weeks in the playoff committee's rankings. After the Crimson Tide are Ohio State and Clemson. Michigan, previously in the third spot, dropped to fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 are Wisconsin, Penn State, Colorado, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
