VAIL, Colo. — Skiers rejoice! More resorts are opening for the 2016/2017 season.

Though lagging behind Breckenridge, Loveland and Arapahoe Basin, Vail Mountain and Beaver Creek opened their slopes Friday.

Warm weather delayed the opening of the season but the Chief Operating Officer of Beaver Creek Resort has high hopes for a chilly turnaround.

“The weather has shifted in our favor this last week, and our snowmaking and mountain operations teams have been taking advantage of every moment of cold temperatures,” said Doug Lovell. “We are hoping to open additional terrain as soon as conditions allow.”

Early season restrictions on uphill access are currently in place; contact 970-754-5907 with any questions regarding uphill travel routes and mountain access.
