DENVER — Four lanes of southbound Interstate 25 were blocked Monday morning after a semitruck tanker crashed and began to leak fuel, the Colorado Department of Transportation said.

The crash happened about 10:45 a.m. on the interstate just north of East Yale Avenue.

Traffic quickly backed up beyond Colorado Boulevard because of the lane closures. Only one lane of traffic was getting by the crash scene.

All but the exit lane to Yale had reopened by noon.

It’s not known how many other vehicles were involved in the crash or if there were any injuries.

CDOT said there are extensive delays in the area.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
