One dead in overnight shooting in northwest Denver

DENVER — One person was killed in a shooting early Friday morning, the Denver Police Department said.

Police said just after 6 a.m. that they were investigating the death in the 4200 block of Tejon Street in northwest Denver.

About three hours later, they said it was a shooting and the victim was an adult male. Police did not say if the shooting happened in a home or outside.

It’s not clear if police have a suspect in custody or if one is being sought.

The name, age and gender of the victim have not been released by police.

Tejon Street was closed between West 41st and West 42nd avenues as officials investigated the death. Police later expanded the closure to West 42nd between Shoshone and Umatilla streets.
