ELYRIA, Ohio — An Ohio attorney who crashed her car and then blamed it on a nonexistent man to avoid a DUI charge has been sentenced to 10 days in jail.

The Chronicle-Telegram reports 27-year-old Heather Wilsey was sentenced after pleading no contest.

When officers arrived on the scene of the crash, Wilsey and another attorney in the car with her claimed a black man who they met at a bar was driving the car and fled after the crash, the paper reports.

Police later found surveillance video showing Wilsey and her friend leaving the bar alone with Wilsey getting into the driver’s seat of the car.

Both attorneys were sentenced to 10 days in jail. The Chronicle-Telegram reports Wilsey apologized during sentencing.

She was charged with obstructing official business and failure to maintain physical control, which was reduced from driving under the influence as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Wilsey’s attorney did not return calls for comment from ABC News.
