JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Highway 285 reopened after being temporarily closed because of a small grass fire on Monday morning, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.

The highway was closed between Jubilee Trail and South Elk Creek Road.

The small fire was quickly brought under control, but smoke reduced visibility on the busy highway.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it was possibly started by a downed power line.
