Carjacking suspects fire shots at Colorado Springs officers during chase

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police are searching for several people who were involved in a carjacking, then fired shots during a chase early Friday morning, the Colorado Springs Police Department said.

The incident was reported after midnight in the 2900 block of East Whileaway Circle.

Police said the suspects held the victims at gunpoint before driving away in a blue Cadillac and blue Ford Ranger pickup truck.

The truck was located less than a mile away near North Academy Boulevard and Maizeland Road. Police began a chase, during which several shots were fired at the officers.

The truck and Cadillac were later recovered, but the suspects got away.

Police have not released a description of the suspects. No injuries were reported.
