RIO BLANCO COUNTY, Colo. — A 61-year-old hunter from Michigan was reported missing Sunday, the Rio Blanco Sheriff’s Office said.

The man was last seen about 8 a.m. Saturday near his camp by Pagoda Lake in the White River National Forest, about 45 miles northeast of Meeker.

The man’s hunting partner told the sheriff’s office the two were supposed to meet for lunch, but that he never returned.

The partner reported the man missing Sunday at the Ripple Creek Lodge.

A search team from Rio Blanco County Search and Rescue, Meeker Fire and Rescue, and Classic Air Medical Helicopter began looking for the man.

The Colorado Multi-Mission Aircraft was used Sunday night, but the man did not turn up.

The search will resume Monday. The Colorado National Guard and Colorado Search and Rescue dogs will aid in the search, the sheriff’s office said.
