DENVER — An American Airlines flight was diverted to Denver International Airport on Sunday because of an odor onboard, airline officials said.

American Airlines Flight 569 departed from Los Angeles at 8:37 a.m. PDT and was headed to Toronto. More than 100 people were onboard the plane.

The Airbus 319 landed safely in Denver about 11:40 a.m. and taxied to gate A50, airport officials said. It’s not clear if any of the passengers had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were called to check out the plane, which is standard procedure.

Maintenance personnel investigated the cause of the odor.

Crews worked to get passengers onto another flight as soon as possible.
