LITTLETON, Colo. -- Two men were injured after a fiery crash involving a Corvette early Friday morning, the Littleton Police Department said.

The crash happened about 2:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of South Santa Fe Drive at West Chenango Avenue, just north of West Belleview Avenue.

Police said the driver of the 1996 Chevrolet Corvette lost control and collided with a light pole, then the vehicle burst into flames.

A passenger was extricated from the Corvette and taken to a hospital. He is in critical condition, police said.

The driver was able to get out and fled the scene on foot but was found nearby, placed in handcuffs and taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The exact nature of the injuries was not released by police. Police said they are still working to identify the men. Their ages were not released.

Southbound Santa Fe was closed between West Oxford Avenue and Belleview as police investigated the crash. It reopened before 11 a.m.

Police said it's a felony accident investigation and they are working to determine if alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor in the crash.
