Pedestrian struck by vehicle near State Capitol

DENVER — A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a vehicle on Thursday morning, the Denver Police Department said.

The accident happened at East 14th Avenue and Lincoln Street, on the southwest corner of the State Capitol, about 7 a.m.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with what were described as serious bodily injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police in its investigation.

Northbound Lincoln Street was closed for about 10 minutes, backing up traffic in the area, but it reopened about 7:20 a.m.

The name, age and gender of the pedestrian and the driver have not been released by police.

The cause of accident remains under investigation.
