Driver killed after crashing into light pole in Denver

DENVER -- One person was killed after a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning, the Denver Police Department said.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. when the 28-year-old male driver crashed into a light pole at West Mississippi Avenue and Santa Fe Drive.

Police closed down the area until the scene could be cleared and the crash could be investigated.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was pulled from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on Santa Fe when it crashed into the pole. No other vehicles were involved. The name of the person who died has not been released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
