COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Investigators in El Paso County are looking for 33-year-old Arturo Maldonado Cerna who they say shot at sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday.

Officials said deputies observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road at Glenwood Drive and Cambridge Avenue in the Stratmoor Hills neighborhood of Colorado Springs.

As a deputy spoke with Cerna outside of the vehicle, the deputy went to pat down Cerna when he ran through a field, raised a firearm over his shoulder and fired rounds at the deputies, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.

Cerna ran into the neighborhood and deputies were unable to locate him because of the large search area.

Anyone who sees Cerna is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 719-390-5555.
