DENVER -- A semitruck caused "extensive damage" to a crossing gate structure, leading to extensive delays on the A Line from Union Station to Denver International Airport on Wednesday morning, RTD said.

The crossing gate was damaged at Holly Street, RTD said. Because of the damage, only one track can be used between Quebec Avenue and Blake Street.

RTD has doubled the amount of trains on the single track to accommodate as many passengers as possible.

Trains were running every 30 minutes with four cars on each trip.

RTD initially said passengers taking the train until 10 a.m. should allow extra time to and from the airport, but that was later extended through 3 p.m.

The line has been plagued by numerous delay issues since it opened in April.
