Person in critical condition after early-morning shooting in Denver

DENVER — A person was shot early Wednesday morning, the Denver Police Department said.

The shooting happened in the 1300 block of South Birch Street about 1 a.m., police said.

Initially, police said the victim’s injuries were not life threatening. But at 10 a.m., police said the victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The name, age and gender of the person who was shot were not released.

Police have not released any suspect description.

Police are investigating what led to the shooting.
