ANTIGO, Wis. -- Police are investigating what could be a new lead in the search for a Wisconsin girl who disappeared in 2009.

On the department's Facebook page, Antigo police said a YouTube video, which recently went viral, could be connected to missing teen Kayla Berg. The video was originally posted to YouTube in 2009.

The video shows a man talking about a date with a girlfriend until a door opens, revealing a woman tied up on the floor, crying.

The video has been making the rounds on social media -- with some viewers believing it's missing Antigo teen Kayla Berg. Berg's mother says she sees a resemblance.

"Sounded like her, looked like her. It gave me chills, it's hard to explain," Hope Sprenger said.

Sprenger tells WAOW-TV the outfit from the girl in the video could belong to Kayla.

"The clothing could be a big possibility. We do believe she was wearing that type of a shirt. We know she had jeans," Hope Sprenger said.

In just three months, the video went from fewer than 20,000 views to almost 1 million. For Sprenger, something about the video really caught her attention.

"As you start looking at it more, you're seeing well this was posted seven years ago, two months after her disappearance. To me that's a major red flag," Sprenger said.

When Sprenger saw the chilling ending, "That first initial thought is, 'That's my daughter.' But I don't know that. I don't know if it's real. I don't know if it's fake," she said.

And if the video does turn out to be a hoax -- or if the girl in the video does not turn out to be Kayla?

"My god it could be some other person's child missing of one. Or if it's fake this person has an extremely sick sense of humor," Sprenger said.

Sprenger said it's a disturbing reminder of what happened seven years ago, unsure if it's her eyes just playing tricks.

"I thought it looked a lot like her. I was trying to focus on some of the facial features. To me it looked a lot like her. I pray to God it's not," Sprenger said.

Tuesday night, the Antigo Police Department released a statement saying the video is not connected to the disappearance of Kayla Berg.

"The Antigo Police Department has been investigating the Hi Walter, its Patrick, I have a new girlfriend video that was on The Antigo Police with the help of another law enforcement agency has been able to identify that this video is 100% fake and was a video that was produced to be placed on Antigo Police Department has identified the video producer/camera man, actor and actress in the video.
