Pedestrian hit, killed on I-70 near Watkins

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — A woman was hit and killed by a truck on Interstate 70 east of metro Denver on Wednesday afternoon as she was switching seats with another driver, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado State Patrol said.

Troopers said the woman parked her SUV on the shoulder along the interstate and as she was getting out, the truck sideswiped her.

She was airlifted to a hospital where she later died.

The truck driver was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons.

Westbound lanes were closed for several hours at traffic of the interstate was closed at Manilla Road during the investigation.
