Denver woman accused of shooting father of her children charged with murder

DENVER — A woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting  death of the father of her four children.

Roxanne Sanchez-Jaime, 33, is accused of shooting Jose Sanchez, 34, in a home on East Randolph Place in Denver on Sept. 25.

One of the children, a 14-year-old boy, was home at the time and witnessed the shooting, the Denver Police Department said.

The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner determined the cause of death was from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to a probable cause statement, when officers arrived, they found the man in the driveway suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead.

Sanchez-Jaime had locked herself and her four children inside the home. Police forced their way into the home and took her into custody.

Police said while in custody, she spontaneously uttered “shot the mother (deleted) in the head,” in front of an officer.
