COTTONWOOD PASS, Colo. — A Colorado man who got up early to watch the sunrise ended up spotting a star.

“We went up to Cottonwood Pass early this morning to watch the sunrise,” Dave Masters said. “There were a couple of police cars up there and a few other cars as well. Then more and more support folks showed up and then a van of actors.”

One of those actors was Robert Redford.

The movie is called “Our Souls at Night” and is scheduled to be released on Netflix in May. The film also stars Jane Fonda, but Masters said the legendary actress was no where in sight.

Redford and Fonda will star as a widow and widower who end up in a relationship that gets everyone in the small town gossiping.

Masters snapped some great shots of Redford and the crew shooting the film with Colorado’s beautiful fall colors as a backdrop.

“A few of the actors got into an old truck and drive off towards Buena Vista,” Masters said. “We heard they would be filming this afternoon and evening in Almont at the Almont Resort.”

The crew was expected to film scenes in Florence on Sept. 17, during the Pioneer Days parade.

According to the Gazette, two Victorian homes on Colorado Springs’ west side will be used as Redford’s and Fonda’s homes in the fictional town of “Holt.”
