FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. -- One person was found dead inside a home after a shooting Sunday night, the Federal Heights Police Department said.

Officers were dispatched to a home in the 2600 block of West 99th Place on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, a man was found dead inside the home from a gunshot wound to his chest.

A witness said he saw an elderly woman in the front lawn of the home after police arrived. Police said the woman, who they believe was inside the home at the time of the shooting, was transported to a hospital because she was distressed.

No one was in custody for the shooting as of late Sunday.

A neighbor said an elderly couple lives in the home.

"I think [the police activity is] very surprising," neighbor Amanda Linnenburger said. "They're quiet people. I've talked to them over the fence. I've talked to her mostly. I've talked to him as well. They seem like descent people for the most part."

As of late Sunday, police said the woman was refusing to talk to investigators.
