Woman fatally struck by pickup truck in Aurora hit-and-run; suspect arrested

AURORA, Colo. — A woman was hit by a pickup truck and later died on Sunday night, the Aurora Police Department said.

Crews from Aurora police and Aurora Fire Rescue responded to East Montview Boulevard and North Dayton Street about 10:45 p.m. on a report of someone being hit by a vehicle.

When authorities arrived, they found a woman laying in the intersection suffering from severe injuries. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the woman was crossing Montview when she was struck in the eastbound lanes by a Ford F-150. Witnesses told police the woman was crossing against the light.

The driver of the truck fled the scene, but the truck was found a short time later about three miles away in the 3300 block of North Peoria Street.

The adult male driver was taken into custody and is being charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and DUI.

The names of the victim and the suspect have not been released.
