In a Facebook post, Piper’s owner Brian Edwards explained that the jump was part of a charity event with Spike’s K9 Fund, which donated an aerial vest to the Cherry Capitol Airport.
The founder, Jimmy Hatch, took Piper on the sky dive adventure in Virginia last weekend.
The 360-degree video shows Piper jumping from 5,000 feet and landing like a champ.
“As you can see, Piper is a BOSS. He can’t wait to go again!” Edwards wrote.
The Facebook video has been viewed more than 4,000 times since it was posted Wednesday.
Piper, a 7-year-old border collie, works at the Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City. Piper’s job at the airport is chasing birds off the runways, primarily geese, ducks and owls. He officially started working at the airport in January 2015.
Piper was called the “coolest dog ever” after a photo of him wearing goggles in front of a Coast Guard helicopter went viral last winter. Four million people have clicked on the video of Piper.
Edwards, the airport operations supervisor, adopted Piper in 2012.AlertMe
