LITTLETON, Colo. -- The C and D lines of the RTD light rail were shut down for about a half hour Wednesday morning because of brake failure on one of the trains and a report of smoke.

Both directions of the lines were closed between the Mineral and Littleton Downtown stations.

The train was stopped at the Littleton Downtown Station and passengers were on the platform as crews from the Littleton Fire Department worked to assess the situation.

A bus shuttle service was brought in to transport passengers. Just before 7:45 a.m., both lines reopened and the bus shuttle was canceled, but RTD said to expect delays as the trains got back on schedule.

No injuries were reported.
