COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Heavy rain and nearly 1 foot of hail caused major flooding in some neighborhoods in Colorado Springs on Monday afternoon. There were also reports of serious damage.

Pictures on social media showed cars underwater as several roads and intersections across the city flooded.

KRDO reported a number of water rescues took place and several roads were closed. The area just south of Memorial Hospital Central seemed to get hit hardest by hail.

"None of the other streets have drainage except this ... and that drain has trees and whatever coming out of it," Doreen Barnhart told KRDO.
