DENVER — A man was killed after being shot by police in Denver early Saturday morning.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, the Denver Police Department said.

Police said officers were trying to pick up a wanted person at a home near South Fox Street and West Ellsworth Avenue.

When officers arrived shortly before 3 a.m., they found a man inside with a knife.

Police said he refused to drop it and started moving toward the officers.

They used a stun gun on the man, but it was not effective, according to police, and the man continued to move toward the officers. The officers then shot the man.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
