One dead after vehicle hits pedestrian in Aurora

AURORA, Colo. – A pedestrian has died after getting struck by a vehicle in Aurora early Monday morning, Aurora police said.

Police say the incident happened around 12:10 a.m. at East Iliff Avenue and South Chambers Road.

Police say that a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it tried to turn north onto South Chambers Road but lost control and started to slide. A group of pedestrians was crossing the street and one of them was hit as the vehicle slid, according to police.

The pedestrian that was struck was transported a hospital and later died. No other pedestrians were hit, police said.

Police are considering speed and alcohol to be a factor in this accident.
