GREEN BAY, Wis. — Residents are on edge because of a person dressed as a clown walking around town in the middle of the night.

Photos of the clown, who residents have named “Gags,” are going viral, with the original post being shared hundreds of times.

Police said they’ve received calls about the clown, but there’s nothing they can do about it.

“A person can walk down the sidewalk dressed however they want as long as they’re in a place they legally can be, and they’re not in a place that has a closing time, like a park,” Capt. Kevin Warych with the Green Bay Police Department told WGBA-TV.

But WBAY-TV reports one Facebook tipster said it could be the work of a director making a horror film. Future sightings of the clown are sure to be documented on the Gags – The Green Bay Clown Facebook page.
