Man in custody, evacuations lifted after hourslong Westminster standoff
WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A man wanted in a felony menacing case was arrested late Wednesday night after an hourslong standoff, the Westminster Police Department said.
Police went to the 5700 block of 92nd Avenue about 6 p.m. looking for 34-year-old Mark Krieger. When officers arrived, they saw the suspect sitting on the front lawn.
Police said Krieger went inside the home and several attempts to get him to come out were unsuccessful. Two other people inside the home came out and told officers that Krieger was inside and had possibly barricaded himself.
Because of previous history, the SWAT team was called in, prompting the evacuation of several people in the neighborhood. After several hours of negotiations, Krieger was taken into custody just before midnight and residents were allowed back into their units.
Krieger was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, obstruction, failure to leave a premise and felony menacing.
