Northbound I-25 near Monument reopens after 2 DUI crashes

MONUMENT, Colo. -- Northbound Interstate 25 reopened Thursday morning after two crashes involving alcohol forced the closure just north of Monument, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The Colorado State Patrol in Castle Rock there were two separate crashes and that troopers are investigating that alcohol was involved in both.

The first crash happened at mile marker 164, forcing the closure of the interstate at County Line Road. CSP said alcohol was involved.

CSP then said a silver vehicle was stopped in traffic because of the crash when an impaired driver rear-ended it.

At least one person suffered serious injuries, CSP said.

The interstate reopened just after 6 a.m.
