Most of its residents consider it a sanctuary; a quiet community with little to no noise. That is, until Joe Wenal starts working.

“When I’m carving it’s not too quiet,” said Wenal as he fired up his chainsaw.

The former military man found his calling later in life. Wenal was living in Upstate New York at the time when grew interested in wood carving.

A few years later, he moved out to Colorado to pursue a new career in wood carving. To see Wenal’s full story, watch Kevin Torres’ chapter of ‘Colorful Colorado’ featuring the artist.
