DENVER — Rock and Roll is not dead. It came alive Tuesday night in Colorado when the Eagles of Death Metal were joined by opener Beware of Darkness at the Ogden Theater.

Opening with “I Only Want You”, they played the tunes you want to hear and a handful of covers including Duran Duran’s “Save A Prayer”. Singer Jesse Hughes led in to “Wannabe in L.A.” by saying Denver is, “where he really wants to be”.

He briefly discussed how much he loves each fan, “for letting him do what he loves” Rock and Roll at one point he became emotional on stage. He did touch on the impact the Bataclan attack had on the band stating it had been, “a tough few months”.

They rounded the set out with, “I Want You So Hard (Boy’s Bad News)” and bassist Matt McJunkins even snuck in a solo sing-along to AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long”.

Here’s what it looked like when Jesse Hughes, who also goes by “Boots Electric”, and Guitarist Dave Catching took the stage with the band. It’s a tightly tuned, Rock and Roll experience that stops short of really being death metal. It’s pure fun and the fans got a great show.
