Motorcyclist dies after running into planter box in Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A 23-year-old man died after losing control of his motorcycle and colliding with a planter box, the Fort Collins Police Department said Tuesday.

Police responded to the scene in the 1800 block of South College Avenue about 10:45 p.m. Monday. The man was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland where he was pronounced dead. His identity will be released after notification of next of kin.

Southbound College Avenue was closed for about 4 1/2 hours as police investigated. Police believe speed was a contributing factor to the crash.
