THORNTON, Colo. -- A man was arrested late Monday night after he allegedly crashed into a garage, hit a police motorcycle and nearly ran over an officer, the Thornton Police Department said.

Police said an officer was directing traffic in the 11100 block of Colorado Boulevard about 11:35 p.m. when the suspect tried to intentionally run over the officer. The officer was able to safely jump out of the way, but the suspect hit the officer's patrol motorcycle.

The officer chased the suspect to East 104th Avenue and Fox Run Parkway where police performed a PIT maneuver and took the suspect into custody.

Officers later learned that before the chase, the suspect allegedly crashed his vehicle through his own garage in the 12300 block of Glencoe Street.

The suspect is facing several charges, including first-degree assault, felony eluding and resisting arrest.
