AURORA, Colo. -- A man was killed after being run over in a restaurant parking lot on Sunday night, the Aurora Police Department said.

Police said a witness sitting the drive-thru of the Taco Mex restaurant in the 10900 block of East Colfax Avenue and saw a 50-year-old Hispanic man who appeared to be "very intoxicated" walking westbound on the north-side sidewalk along East Colfax Avenue at Joliet Street about 9:40 p.m.

When the man reached the northeast corner of Colfax and Joliet, he fell down on the grass. When the sprinklers came on, the man got up and stumbled into the Taco Mex parking lot, where he collapsed again, police said.

Police said the man was in the parking lot for about a minute when a 2009 maroon Cadillac Escalade driven by a 29-year-old woman turned into the lot and drove over the man. The man was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The female driver stayed on the scene and was cooperative with police. There are no indications of alcohol or drug impairment, police said, and no charges are expected to be filed.

The identity of the man who was killed has not been determined.
