ARAPAHOE BASIN, Colo. — After 224 days — the longest ski and ride season in Colorado — Arapahoe Basin closed for the 2015-16 ski and ride season Sunday.

More than 2,000 people went to the Basin for one last day of lift-served skiing. And, serving traditional, many tested their skills at pond skimming on Lake Reveal.

A-Basin received approximately 300 inches of snow this season, and cool temperatures in the spring allowed the ski area to remain open for an additional bonus weekend.

A-Basin generally opens in mid-to-late October.
