SHERIDAN, Colo. -- About 50 people, including officers from the Sheridan Police Department and the mayor, attended a candlelight vigil and memorial tribute Monday night for 11-year-old Aundrea Plunkett.
"She gave some of the best hugs I've ever had in my life," a family friend said. "She would always ... every time I would come here, she would just run to me with her arms open and want to hug me. It was very precious and she would always hug me goodbye."
According to police, Aundrea crossed into the path of the SUV on her bike. The driver attempted to swerve to avoid her.
The driver of the SUV stayed and cooperated with police. No charges have been filed.
Aundrea had numerous surgeries before she died. Her corneas and both kidneys were donated.
A YouCaring fund has been set up to help the family.AlertMe
