FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A man who had been arrested on peeping Tom charges was found dead from apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, Fort Collins Police Services and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said.

Steven Lee Christensen, 57, was found dead Friday morning after sheriff’s deputies visited a property on Highway 1 north of Fort Collins to execute a search warrant on behalf of Fort Collins Police Services.

While officers were attempting contact at the front door of the property at approximately 10:30 a.m., a gunshot was heard.

Christensen had been arrested earlier this week after a series of window-peeping cases were reported in a neighborhood near Old Town Fort Collins, and follow-up investigation led to him being identified as the suspect.

No officers fired their guns and no officers were injured. The sheriff’s office will investigate the incident as an unattended death.

Authorities have not released an official word on why they were serving a search warrant or why Christensen was there.
