Motel homicide suspect arrested after SWAT-involved barricade situation

One person was killed at a Super 8 motel in Adams County on Tuesday, May 4, 2016.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A suspect in a homicide Wednesday at an Adams County motel surrendered peacefully after a barricade situation at a Motel 6 on Thursday afternoon, the Lakewood Police Department said.

Police assisted the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in apprehending the male suspect who refused to come out of a motel room at 480 Wadsworth Blvd. The SWAT team was called in to wait out the man.

The suspect was wanted in a homicide case in which a man was fatally shot in a Super 8 motel parking lot near Interstate 25 and East 58th Avenue on Wednesday morning.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect surrendered peacefully after a couple hours of barricading.

No one was injured during the barricade.
