2016 schedule for Film on the Rocks released

DENVER — Film on the Rocks returns for its 17th season this year at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and the Denver Film Society and Denver Arts & Venues announced the lineup for this year on Wednesday.

There will be eight movies this year starting in late May and going until September. Each show this year will also feature a comedian from Comedy Works as well as bands.

Tickets go on sale beginning Friday and cost $12 for general admission at denverfilm.org. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the bands playing at 7 p.m. and the movies beginning at dusk.

May 23: “Grease” sing-along with Lissie + Megan Burtt & the Cure For Love

May 30: “The Big Lebowski” with Anthony Ruptak and The Midnight Friends + The River Arkansas

June 15: “Citizen Kane” in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the dedication of Red Rocks Amphitheatre

June 20: “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” with Strawberry Runners + The Baltic

July 11: “The Sandlot” with Special Guests + Brent Cowles

July 25: “Labyrinth” with School of Rock – A Tribute to Bowie

Aug. 23: “Deadpool” with The Blue Rider

Sept. 6: Season closer: To be announced
