ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos’ 2016 preseason schedule was announced Thursday and it includes three games against teams from the NFC West.

The Super Bowl champions will open with a road game against their former coach, John Fox, in Chicago on Aug. 11-15. It’s the 19th time in the past 20 years the Broncos will start the preseason on the road.

The Broncos’ preseason home opener at Sports Authority Field at Mile High will be Aug. 18-22 against the San Francisco 49ers.

The next week, Aug. 25-28, the Broncos will play host to the Rams, who moved to Los Angeles this off season. The preseason ends Sept. 1 against the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale, Ariz.

Exact dates and times will be announced later this month when the regular-season schedule is released.

The Broncos, as Super Bowl champions, will host the first game of the regular season, on Sept. 8. Potential opponents include the rival New England Patriots, a Super Bowl 50 rematch against the Carolina Panthers or against former quarterback Brock Osweiler and the Houston Texans.
