Xcel Energy outage affected about 3,000 Monday evening.

DENVER — Nearly 3,000 Xcel Energy customers were without power Monday night because of an outage.

The outage was reported around 7 p.m. in the area of Cherry Creek in Denver near the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.

Xcel reported 2,914 customers were affected, with an estimated restoration time set for 8:18 p.m.

By 9 p.m., the number of customers affected dropped to fewer than 700.
