ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Broncos General Manager John Elways has met with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, according to several reports.

The Broncos had inquired about 28-year-old Kaepernick after losing their top two quarterbacks when Peyton Manning retired and Brock Osweiler signed a contract with the Houston Texans.

According to reports, Kaepernick met with Elway in Denver on Thursday, when Kaepernick's $11.9 million salary for next season became guaranteed.

If the Broncos can work out a trade for the quarterback, it's expected they'll have to restructure his contract and he would likely have to take a pay cut.

Kaepernick has been in Colorado during the off season rehabilitating in Vail.
