DENVER -- A man was killed and a woman was injured while they were sitting in a car in a north Park Hill neighborhood on Wednesday night, the Denver Police Department said.

The shooting happened in the 3300 block of Cherry Street near Bruce Randolph Drive. Police say the victims were in their late teens or early 20s.

Neighbors in the area said they heard an initial round of four or five shots followed by another round of as many as 10 shots.

Police quickly sealed off City of Axum Park and began the investigation. There is no word on what might have provoked the shooting and people in the neighborhood said they have no idea as well. But they do know that gun violence has become all too common in the neighborhood.

“I don’t know if the shooters knew him , don’t know what happened, if it was a drug deal or gangs, but that’s what happens around here, that’s what it is," Jason Hodge said.

Police spent time processing a white vehicle at the scene but so far there is no word on any suspects or description.
