WASHINGTON — Nearly 1.73 million burglaries occurred in the U.S. in 2014, according to the FBI. Although most standard homeowner’s insurance policies cover the costs associated with damaged and stolen property because of to burglary, victims can suffer from fear and anxiety in the aftermath.

To help people know which places are most affected, the team at FindTheHome wanted to know where burglaries occur most frequently.

To do this, we consulted the most recent estimates from the American Community Survey (2014) and determined the U.S. county in every state with the highest burglary rate per 100,000 people.

We’ve sorted this list from lowest to highest burglary rate and include Total burglaries and violent crime statistics for each county.
