Geer was shot multiple times Feb. 8 while trying to take a suspect into custody. He was taken off life support two days later after several of his organs were donated.

At his funeral people lined up a 2 1/2-mile stretch of roadway leading from the funeral home to the church. Many said they wanted to say “thank you” not only to Geer but all members of law enforcement.

Holzer is scheduled to be back in court March 24 for a preliminary hearing.
